The Temple of the Sun, or, as it is called by the Incas, Punchaucancha, is considered second in importance in the Inca Empire after Coricancha Temple in Cuzco. The author presents the physical and cultural context of the ancient Sanctuary in its constructive aspects: architecture, roads, function, hierarchy, astronomy, ceremony, and ideology.
