LUIGI PRESTINENZA PLUGISI
Italian interior architecture has been known for its particularly innovative, even provocative, designs for a long time. Its cutting edge extends not only to aesthetic qualities but also to the use of new materials and their combination. The architects behind these designs distinguish themselves by their empathic openness to be influenced by the visual arts and graphic design, and their willingness to trascend established disciplinary boundaries. This is arguably one of the principal reasons why their creations of interiors for hotels, restaurants and retail spaces, for affices and museums as well as for private residences have been in demand worldwide and has often set new trends.
This volume presents a selection of new designs realised between 2000 and 2010 in Italy and other countries, among them the US, Great Britain, Spain, Israel and Dubai. It shows the work of great luminaries like Renzo Piano, Michele de Lucci and Massimiliano Fuksas, as well as of representatives of the younger generations, among them Gianluigi and Marco Giammetta, Caterina Tiazzoldi, and studiometrico. All projects are documented with many scaled technical drawings and detail phtographs.
